He started his Bollywood career with the film Utsav opposite Rekha in September 1985.On television, he was featured in the shows Dekh Bhai Dekh, Reporter, Wah janab,'chote babu' Andaz, and many others. He was the judge on The Great Indian Comedy Show on Star One until February 2006. He also did quiz shows including Nilaam Ghar on Zee Television and He-Man on Star One. He also hosted a show on Star News, Poll Khol for five years, which was a satire on the Indian politics, Comedy Circus I, Comedy ka maha muqabala, and Perfect Bride. He was one of the judges of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge along with Navjot Singh Sidhu. This programme, a stand-up comedy contest, was the first of its kind on Indian television. He became the judge of a rival comedy program Comedy Circus. He also hosted the show Jab Khelo SAB Khelo on SAB TV. He can be seen on Sony TV as a participant in Jhalak Dikhlaja.

He made his singing debut with a music album named Kuch Khwaab Aise, a collection of eight love ballads whose music was composed by Aadesh Srivastava and lyrics written by Shyam Raj. In December 2009, he appeared as a participant on a reality TV series, Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka based on past life regression. He has also appeared as a judge in the reality TV show Lux Perfect Bride.
